The story I want to tell is about loans for dental services. I have dental insurance through my job but it does not cover any of the procedures that I need in my 50s and beyond. In order to get much needed treatment from one of the best dental schools in the country (which by the way my employer does not cover me to use) I took out a Capital One loan. The interest rate is 29% and if you are even a day late in your payment not only are you slapped with a high penalty but you are part of a phone calling automated bank which will call you almost hourly, on weekends, and copying area codes of numbers you have recently called. Even if you get caught up in your payments the calls do not seem to stop. There is a cease and desist process that is complicated and so far I have had no luck getting the calls to end. I support this movement so that my children may not experience these burdens in their adult lives.
